The companies that dominate the market are Vivo with 28.35% of the market, TIM with 25.78% and Claro with 24.61%. The rest is controlled by Oi (12.78%) and Telefonia Celular / Amazonia Celular (4.53%). The predominant technology is still GSM (with almost 70% of the market). Rest is CDMA with 23% and TDMA with around 7%.

The number is definitely impressive, although far from China’s 400 million mobile phone users.
